Diamond brand Kwiat and pro golfer Cristie Kerr partnered to design an exclusive collection of diamond jewelry to benefit Birdies for Breast Cancer, Kerrs foundation committed to increasing breast cancer awareness. The partnership was celebrated with the collection’s debut in Manhattan at Kwiat’s Madison Aveneue boutique. Ten percent of proceeds from the colleciton will go directly to benefit Birdies for Breast Cancer.
Kerr is an extraordinary example of someone unwavering in her commitment to excellence, not only professionally but personally, said Greg Kwiat. The Birdies for Breast Cancer Collection is inspired by Kwiats Signature Platinum Star Collection, and includes a pair of delicate, diamond-drop earrings as well as a pendant of the same design. Invoking the charitable connection, both pieces are set in 18-carat pink gold and accented with a pink sapphire.

i am trying to find a site that sells synthetic gemstones. specificially i am looking for a 2.5 ct. emerald cut synthetic pink sapphire. i would love to get into jewelry making but i need to find a good, inexpensive source for gemstones.
Rio Grande or Fire Mountain Gems both have stones, findings, tools and anythingyou need for jewelry.
When I lived in a larger city (Charleston SC) there wereseveral groups of folks who did Lapidary as well – Sometimes I would buy Cabachons from them for less.
It also is good to go to lapidary shows. Look in the lapidary magazine for current shows in your area. usually there are shows in the spring and fall.
NC has them often in Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, and Charlotte. SC has them in North Charleston, Mount PLeasant, and Columbia. Virginia has then in Richmond and Charlottesville. I am sure there are others in Virginia but I’m new here.

So I’ve been looking at engagement rings, and would like some advice.
My girlfriend’s favorite gemstone is Alexandrite, a purplish gem that that shifts colors in different lighting (pink, green, and purple). As far as I know she doesn’t have any alexandrite jewelry already, so I’m wondering if when I propose to her, if an alexandrite ring would be better than a diamond one.
Both of us are against diamond mining, but what do you guys think? Maybe alexandrite would be a nice birthday gift or somesuch, and I should use something like sapphire for the engagement ring? What’s your opinion?
Be aware that only real Alexandre displays the colour shift you describe. Synthetic Alexandre doesn’t do that.
My other concern was also mentioned by Nova Queen. I’m not sure how durable the gem is for daily wear. I have a vague recollection of hearing that it wasn’t a good everyday gemstone. Don’t listen to me though – do a bit of research on that topic.
